Primary teachers warn of more strikes if talks fail
Primary and intermediate teachers may strike again if their demands for more pay and better working conditions aren't met. Nearly 30,000 teachers belonging to the Educational Institute walked out of classrooms yesterday in what was the first teachers' strike in 24 years. The Education Minister Chris Hipkins says the government acknowledges teachers' concerns and is committed to a fair pay deal but says their expectations must be realistic and talk of further industrial action is disappointing.
