From Morning Report, 7:40 am on 7 September 2018

Hollywood star Burt Reynolds has died. Perhaps best known for his roles in 'Smoky and the Bandit' and 'Deliverance', and perhaps his moustache, he was a notorious sex symbol in Hollywood. He also turned down a number of famous roles including Han Solo in Star Wars and was one of the top choices to play Michael Corleone in Francis Ford Coppola's 1972 epic 'The Godfather'. In 2016 he spoke to RNZ's Kim Hill about his varied life which included a run of bad financial investments and rumours that he'd contracted AIDS in the 1980s.
