NZ surfing champion Ella Williams on pay equity for surfers

From Morning Report, 8:52 am on 7 September 2018

The surfing world has gone where many sports have so far failed to and offered women and men equal prize money. The World Surf League will roll out equal pay at all elite tour events from next year - the first US-based global sports league to do so. Ella Williams from Whangamata is the Womens' World Junior Surf Champ and is ranked 29th on the World Surf League's Open Womens Qualifying Series. She says it's awesome that the surfing has reached pay equity and the sport has evolved over the last ten years and is getting up to date with the rest of the world.
