Anti-1080 lobbyists halt Hunua pest control

From Morning Report, 8:41 am on 10 September 2018

A major 1080 pest control programme across the Hunua Ranges, south-east of Auckland, has been suspended. A lobby group opposing the drop - The Friends of Sherwood Trust - has won a temporary injunction in the Environment Court. The trust is worried the 1080 pellets could fall into the water supply. On Friday an Enviornment Court judge Jeff Smith ruled there was sufficient evidence for an injunction so that the court to hear arguments on both sides in a full hearing on Thursday. Lawyer for the trust Sue Grey says if the injunction is made permanent it could set a precedent for future 1080 drops.
