Palmerston North assures water clean from foam pollution

The Palmerston North City Council is assuring residents their water supply is completely safe from high levels of contamination found in streams near the airport. Seven tests have detected the firefighting foam chemical PFOS at levels above safe drinking water guidelines in several streams. But the council's chief executive Heather Shotter says tests of city water supplies have come back clear. She told Phil Pennington there's no need for ongoing tests because the water artesian water supply is deep and secure.
