Hurricane Florence slows, but grows over US East Coast

From Morning Report, 6:43 am on 14 September 2018

Hurricane Florence is slowing slightly, but growing in size, as its outer edges lash the eastern coast of the United States. Six nuclear power plants are in the path of the storm, which FEMA says is expected to deliver "a tremendous amount of rain" and a storm surge of up to 4 metres. More than 1.7 million people are under a mandatory evacuation order, and 10 million are in the storm watch area. David Crawford says the last time they had a storm of this force was Hurricane Fran in 1996. He's a resident of Raleigh, the capital of North Carolina. A lot of people being evacuated from the coast are heading there.
