Refugee campaigner 'elated' with NZ quota boost

From Morning Report, 7:44 am on 20 September 2018

The man who led a campaign for New Zealand to double the quota of refugees it accepts says he's delighted the total will be boosted to 1500 a year. The previous government lifted the quota from 750 a year to 1000 and on Wednesday the Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern, announced it will rise again from 2020. In the meantime she says work will continue to improve refugee resettlement and support services, including an upgrade of the Mangere Centre. Murdoch Stephens led the Double the Quota campaign and says over the past few months things were a little unclear but they're happy with this result.
