Power station consent on hold over public access concerns

Local iwi and Fish and Game advocates are accusing a Northland power company of shutting them out of public reserves on the Wairua River. Northpower says it's put locked gates on the road to its Wairua River hydro station, west of Whangarei to keep the public safe. But the objectors say it's more about keeping the public out.
