Auckland reservoirs temporarily offline after 1080 drop

From Morning Report, 6:18 am on 24 September 2018

Two reservoirs supplying water to Aucklanders have been temporarily shut off after an aerial 1080 operation. The Council dropped toxic bait pellets across a 16,000-hectare block in the Hunua ranges yesterday morning after an Environment Court interim injunction postponing the drop lapsed on Friday. The regional park is closed for monitoring and two of the regional park's four public reservoirs have been isolated from the city's water supply. Auckland Council park manager Mace Ward told RNZ reporter Katie Scotcher the reservoirs would be shut off for at least 48 hours. The Hunua Ranges Regional Park is closed for at least five days.
