Needles in Auckland strawberries 'sick' - Agriculture Minister

A punnet of Australian strawberries contaminated with needles has been found in Auckland yesterday in the first such reported case here. The Primary Industries Minister, Damien O'Connor, says it's sordid and sick - and he hopes it is not a New Zealander carrying out a copycat crime. The fruit imported from Western Australia and sold under the Choice brand was sold at the Countdown supermarket in St Lukes Mall. Mr O'Connor says growers and supermarkets may have to increase their security.
