Drone testing a danger in central Otago, pilots say

From Morning Report, 6:14 am on 26 September 2018

Pilots of light planes say plans by a company to test unmanned aircraft in central Otago will put them in danger. Christchurch-based tech start-up firm, Skybase Aero has lodged an application with the Civil Aviation Authority for restricted air space above Alexandra. Skybase founder and chief executive Michael Read says for safety reasons, testing has to be done in a controlled environment. He told RNZ reporter Tracy Neal his aim is to use their large drones for commercial and humanitarian work, but development's being hampered by rules limiting how far they're allowed to fly.
