Ardern talks climate change, kindness at UN

From Morning Report, 8:45 am on 28 September 2018

In New York, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has finished speaking to the United Nation's General Assembly. Ms Ardern, who has drawn international attention by having her baby Neve on the assembly floor, has told the gathering that she wants to make New Zealand the best place in the world to raise children. The Prime Minister also drew attention to the ongoing impact of climate change on the Pacific, such as the recent resolution by the Pacific Islands' Forum. It was a speech that stood in stark contrast to the one by US President Donald Turmp's on Tuesday - where he criticised international institutions and poured scorn on multilateralism. Ms Ardern called for a different approach - one that puts kindness at the heart of all decisions.
