Frustrated police warn trampers to prepare for alpine hikes

From Morning Report, 7:45 am on 3 October 2018

Police are frustrated that some people hiking in alpine terrain are not getting the message that they must be prepared before stepping foot on the track. This follows the death of a 53-year-old man on the Tongariro Alpine Crossing on Monday. He had been tramping with three others, before becoming seperated from the group shortly before the Ketetahi Hut - approximately two hours into the trek. Senior Constable Barry Shepherd told RNZ reporter Katie Doyle what happened.
