Kavanaugh sworn into US Supreme Court - closest vote in century

From Morning Report, 8:23 am on 8 October 2018

Brett Kavanaugh has been sworn in as a US Supreme Court judge after one of the most controversial appointment debates in the court's history. The 50 to 48 vote in the Senate was the closest in more than a century. Judge Kavanaugh was accused by three women of sexual misconduct while studying at Yale and during high school, among them Dr Christine Blasey Ford, who accused him of sexual assault while in high school in the early 1980s. His angry denials during a Senate confirmation prompted widespread criticism of his suitability to sit on the Supreme Court. More than 2000 law professors signed a letter urging the Senate to reject his nomination. Steve Vladeck is a law professor at the University of Texas. He joins us with his analysis.
