Chorus subcontractors 'exploiting' immigrant workers

From Morning Report, 7:40 am on 9 October 2018

Telecommunications company Chorus is holding urgent talks with the Labour Inspectorate today after a damning investigation into ultrafast broadband subcontractors. The inspectorate has found 73 subcontractors in Auckland didn't keep employment records or agreements, as well as failing to pay the minimum wage to workers, many of them vulnerable immigrants. E Tū union spokesperson Joe Gallagher blames Chorus for the contracting blunders. The Labour Inspectorate's national manager Stu Lumsden talks to Philippa Tolley.
