NZ's largest residential skyscraper build hits new snag

From Morning Report, 6:44 am on 10 October 2018

The early-stage build of the country's tallest residential skyscraper has hit a stumbling block. The construction of Auckland's Seascape apartments - which will be second only in height to the SkyTower - began a year ago and has run into setbacks getting signoff for steel imported from China and its fire safety design. The enormous job is run by China Construction New Zealand, a subsidiary of the world's largest building company. Its project director Greg Douglas told RNZ reporter Tom Furley they've discovered a problem with the concrete pour for the 5-level basement excavation.
