'I've had good, bad, ugly' - Aucklander on tenancy treadmill

From Morning Report, 6:17 am on 17 October 2018

An Auckland woman stuck on the tenancy treadmill says a national shared-equity scheme could get her on the currently unattainable housing ladder. A Salvation Army report published this morning paints a bleak picture of private renting in New Zealand. It calls for the government to build an extra 5,000 houses a year under a shared-equity scheme, dubbed KiwiBuy, to get tenants into homeownership. Tina and her daughter live in a central Auckland suburb in a unit costing $415 a week. She told RNZ reporter Eva Corlett that she works fulltime and earns an above average salary, but she doesn't think she'll ever own a home.
