Jami-Lee Ross vows to fight for Botany seat

From Morning Report, 6:36 am on 17 October 2018

Newly independent Botany MP Jami-Lee Ross is going to the police today to lay a complaint against his former boss Simon Bridges. In an extraordinary day of political turmoil on Tuesday, Mr Ross quit the National Party moments before National MPs voted unanimously to expel him from the caucus. According to Mr Ross, Mr Bridges breached electoral law by asking that a $100,000 donation be manipulated so the donor's identity could remain secret. Jami-Lee Ross will resign from Parliament and stand in the resulting by-election as an independent. But does he have any chance in what has traditionally been one of National's safest seats? Sarah Robson went to Botany to talk to local voters.
