More jail time possible for 'Beast of Blenheim' rapist

From Morning Report, 6:39 am on 17 October 2018

Stewart Murray Wilson's lawyer says he doesn't expect his 71-year-old client will get a harsh penalty for new rape convictions. Wilson, a serial rapist infamously known as the 'Beast of Blenheim', was jailed for 21 years in 1996 for violent sexual attacks on women. He's served that sentence and is living in a house on Whanganui Prison grounds under strict supervision. But more jail time is possible after he was found guilty at the High Court in Auckland yesterday of more historical rapes - including that of a 9-year-old girl. Wilson's lawyer Andrew McKenzie told RNZ court reporter Anneke Smith the guilty verdicts were disappointing and a tough sentence shouldn't necessarily be expected.
