The Catholic Bishop of Dunedin is under pressure to re-name a school called after a former Bishop who is now accused of covering up sexual abuse. Kavanagh College is named after the late John Kavanagh who sent a predatory priest to Australia for counselling instead of contacting the police. At a meeting last night dozens of students, former pupils and abuse survivors demanded a name change. Our Otago/Southland reporter Tess Brunton was there.
