Fate of four-lane SH1 Northland plan to be revealed

Northland people will find out today what's going to happen to the most dangerous stretch of road in the region. The Transport Agency will reveal the results of its re-evaluation of the Whangarei to Te Hana State Highway project. It had planned to rebuild it - with four lanes and a median barrier. But it's had to go back to the drawing board to see how well that aligns with the Government's road-spending priorities. The Northland Transport Committee chair John Bain says the original plan was the safest option.
