Prime Minister 'policy-making on the hoof' - Goldsmith

From Morning Report, 6:12 am on 25 October 2018

The Opposition is accusing the Prime Minister of making policy up on the hoof after she pledged not to allow any more regional fuel taxes. The government passed a law in June to let Auckland introduce an 11.5 cents a litre tax - and had left the door open for other councils to follow suit from 2021. But in a surprise announcement on Wednesday, Jacinda Ardern slammed that door and ruled out extending the regional fuel tax while she is Prime Minister. National MP Paul Goldsmith told reporters councils will be surprised by the backdown.
