One Year On: Teachers disappointed, frustrated

The government took over the education system with a bang - getting rid of the loathed National Standards in reading writing and maths within months of taking power, and moving to convert charter schools into state schools. It also launched at least 15 major reviews. Now the government is bogged down in a pay dispute with the teacher unions and wrestling with a staffing shortage that threatens to leave the country's schools 2,000 teachers short by 2025. RNZ education correspondent, John Gerritsen, has been asking teachers and principals what they make of it all one year down the track.
