Simon Bridges discusses new Jami-Lee Ross recording

From Morning Report, 7:37 am on 5 November 2018

A taped conversation between former National MP Jami-Lee Ross and party leader Simon Bridges and his deputy Paula Bennett shows the leadership tried to keep their internal problems out of the public eye. Extracts of the conversation were broadcast by Newshub's AM Show on Monrday. Newshub says it was recorded early last month as National was negotiating with Mr Ross over the terms on which he'd take leave from Parliament and Ms Bennett suggests citing either medical or family reasons. In the taped conversation Ms Bennett tells Mr Ross they're trying to deal with him in the lightest possible way. And Mr Bridges makes it clear to Mr Ross that there's still a promising future for him with National, depending on how he behaves in the days and weeks ahead. Simon Bridges is the National Party leader. He talks to Susie Ferguson.
