Erebus memorial planned for Auckland

The government is working with Auckland Council, iwi, local government and community groups to find a site for the National Erebus Memorial in Auckland. From today, the Ministry of Culture and Heritage wants to hear from the country's architects, artists and designers about what they think a memorial should look like. It comes as the government announces it has $3 million is being earmarked for a memorial to remember the victims of the country's worst ever plane crash, the Mt Erebus disaster. The Ministry for Culture and Heritage's manager of memorials and toanga Brodie Stubbs spoke to RNZ reporter Catherine Hutton and started by telling her why the winning design would likely come from a team of professionals.
