$70,000 bill for autistic NZ girl to attend AUS preschool

From Morning Report, 8:38 am on 6 November 2018

A New Zealand family living in Brisbane has been told it will cost them 70 thousand dollars a year to send their three-year-old autistic daughter to preschool. That's under changes to disability subsidies being rolled out across Australia, under the NDIS scheme. These allow big subsidies for citizens, resident or permanent visa holders but not for the scores of thousands of New Zealanders on a protected special category visa. Jeanette Walker told Phil Pennington the preschool enrolled Stella - only to call back later and tell them how much it would cost.
