'People don't understand what midwives do' - Caroline Conroy
Midwives are voting to strike for a pay deal separate to that being offered to nurses. Midwives Union (MERAS) spokesperson Jill Ovens told Checkpoint they're tired of being lumped-in with other nurses. Midwives will be doing two-hour work stoppages every day on every shift over a two week period from 22 November to 5 December. We talk to Caroline Conroy, who has been a midwife for thirty years and voted to reject the pay offer.
