Louise Nicholas stands by criticism after report clears Haumaha

From Morning Report, 7:18 am on 13 November 2018

Victims' advocate Louise Nicholas is standing by her criticism of Wally Haumaha's promotion to Deputy Police Commissioner. An independent report into the appointment has found the process was fit for purpose. The review was sparked after it emerged Mr Haumaha made comments in 2004 defending police officers accused of raping Ms Nicholas in 1984. Police Commissioner Mike Bush welcomes the report. Mr Bush says he retains confidence in Wally Haumaha. Mr Haumaha is still being investigated by the Independent Police Conduct Authority over claims he bullied two women in 2016. Louise Nicholas is now a victims rights advocate who works with the Police. She talks to Philippa Tolley.
