From Morning Report, 8:14 am on 16 November 2018

A plan to ban begging and rough sleeping in Tauranga is one step closer after a city council vote. The ban is proposed for Tauranga, Mount Maunganui and Greerton CBDs and will prohibit begging and rough sleeping within 5m of retail and hospitality premises. The bylaw is due to go to a final vote next week. Angela Wallace is the chairperson of the Community Angels, a collective supporting the homeless in Tauranga and Terry Molloy is the Tauranga City Councillor who proposed the ban.
