Northland mechanic banned from giving WOFs after fatal crash

A Dargaville mechanic who sent his cars to a now suspended garage for warrants of fitness inspections says people are justified in feeling anxious about whether their cars are truly safe. Dargaville Diesel Specialists has been suspended from issuing WOFs after a fatal car crash. The front seat passenger died and it was found his frayed seatbelt - which should have been picked up during the inspection - had snapped. Dargaville father of four and grandfather Tim Yeabsley said he'd had no problem with the work of Dargaville Diesel Specialists. But he told Phil Pennington too many warrant inspections are done 'once-over-lightly'.
