Questions remain over NZTA handling of WOF checks - National

The National Party says a number of questions remain over NZTA's handling of warrant of fitness checks and once they're answered it will be up to the Transport Minister to decide if heads should roll. The agency has admitted knowing since 2011 that Dargaville Diesel Specialists was failing to do critical safety checks, but has been taking an educational approach, instead of enforcing the law. The garage has had its license suspended after police investigations revealed 65-year-old William Ball died as a result of his seatbelt failing. The car he was a passenger in was given the all clear by the Dargaville garage. Jo Moir reports.
