Car-free Queen St trial a critical step - Simon Wilson

Plans are afoot to ban cars from Queen Street and other roads in central Auckland. Yesterday Auckland Councillors voted unanimously to trial the idea, after urban designers pitched their idea of an "open streets" vision for the central city. Councillors were overwhelmingly positive and committee chairperson Chris Darby says he wants to see trials as soon as possible.
