Sroubek on Checkpoint: Czech drug dealer says he is a good man

From Morning Report, 7:45 am on 30 November 2018

The Czech drug dealer Karel Sroubek, is pleading for what he calls a fair hearing of his case, without the politics. After weeks of controversy the Immigration Minister has overturned his own decision to let Sroubek stay here and admits he should have asked more question about the case. Sroubek is serving more than five years in jail for smuggling almost five kilos of MDMA into the country. He argues he shouldn't be deported back to the Czech Republic because his life would be in danger. The authorities there want him back to serve a 54 month sentence for attacking and injuring two police officers. Speaking from prison to Checkpoint's Lisa Owen Sroubek insists he can't go.
