'Anyone can be Santa, just wear the costume'

An attempt at a multicultural Christmas parade in Nelson left many children with just one question - where's Santa? The traditonal white beard and red suit was ditched in favour of a Māori man wearing a red feathered korowai. The move hasn't gone down well with some, including Nelson local Diane Chandler. "If you want a Māori Santa or an Indian Santa or an Irish Santa, that is great. If they'd had a Māori Santa that would've been great, but it wasn't. It was a man wearing a cloak holding a hook trident," she tells Guyon Espiner.
