China demands Canada release Huawei CFO

China is demanding Canada immediately release the chief financial officer of tech giant, Huawei Technologies. Meng Wanzhou was detained in Vancouver at the weekend for possible extradition to the United States amid reports she violated US sanctions against Iran. The Chinese Foreign ministry spokesman Geng Shuang issued a stern warning. Countries including New Zealand have barred Huawei from involvement in next generation mobile phone rollouts, citing security risks. The Foreign Minister, Winston Peters, says he was aware of the development but has received nothing officially. Our correspondent in Canada is Laura McQuillan. She joins us with the latest details.
