1 billion trees: Climate change benefits inflated - National

From Morning Report, 6:18 am on 10 December 2018

The National Party is accusing the Regional Economic Development Minister of inflating the climate change benefits of his one billion trees programme. The government hopes the tree planting programme will help New Zealand reduce its climate change liability under the Paris Agreement which is estimated in 2030 could cost about $32 billion. Shane Jones says programme would shave about $3 billion off that bill, but National's economic development spokesperson, Paul Goldsmith told RNZ deputy political editor Chris Bramwell that Mr Jones has over-egged that.
