NZ child poverty bottom line unchanged - Children's Commissioner

From Morning Report, 7:44 am on 10 December 2018

The Childrens Commissioner says he's frustrated that MSD has decided not to report on low income and hardship rates for children. Judge Andrew Becroft says that makes it harder to judge child poverty in the Child Poverty Monitor report released on Monday. The latest report has found that one in five New Zealand children are living without access to either enough food or enough healthy food. It's also found that children in the most disadvantaged communities are twice as likely to end up in hospital as children living in areas of economic and social advantage. They are also six times more likely to leave school without NCEA level 1.
