A Wellington doctor says pressure to get new mothers breast-feeding quickly is driving up the increase in tongue-tie cuts in newborn babies. Anaesthetist Graham Sharp sparked controversy last month by claiming the snip is massively over-diagnosed and treated and potentially dangerous.
