Four-lane highway only fix for road safety - Transport Forum

The Road Transport Forum says modern four-lane highways are the only practical solution for improving road safety on key routes. The Government has announced it will spend $1.4 billion on safety upgrades over the next three years, including median side barriers, rumble strips and shoulder widening on the country's most dangerous roads. The forum -- which promotes the interests of the trucking industry -- welcomes those improvements but is disappointed the government has not also committed to the construction of new state highways.
