Scotland ex-leader Salmond arrested over rape claims

The former First Minister of Scotland, Alex Salmond, has appeared in court in Edinburgh after he was arrested overnight. Mr Salmond served as First Minister of Scotland from 2007 to 2014, and was the leader of the Scottish National Party for over two decades. Mr Salmond has been under investigation by Police over allegations that he sexually harassed two women several years ago. Outside court, Mr Salmond said he was "innocent of any criminality" and added that he would defend himself "to the utmost".
