Dogs caught after Kaikohe man attacked three times

From Morning Report, 8:50 am on 14 February 2019

Council officers in the Far North have seized the dogs they suspect attacked an elderly man in Kaikohe this week.

Jim Morgan - who's 95 - was bitten on the hip by one of two unregistered dogs that rushed him as he walked past a house on Monday.

It's the third time Mr Morgan's been the victim of local dogs in his neighbourhood. In 2016 he and his small dog Sandy were attacked, and last December he was forced to have his pet put down after it was mauled while the pair were out walking.

The council's Environmental Services manager Darren Edwards told RNZ's Northland reporter Lois Williams Mr Morgan handled the latest situation well.
