Farmers fear restricted land development
Farmers on leasehold Crown land are unhappy about a plan aimed that could see them stopped from moving into more intensive farming . The government wants to make it harder for those farming leasehold high country land to make changes to the way the land is used. This comes hard on the heals of last week's announcement that a stop will be put to tenure review, under which leased land can be signed over to farmers provided they set aside areas for conservation.
