Govt introduces mininmum quals for at-home ECE services
At-home early childhood businesses must get their staff qualified or lose access to $150 million a year in government subsidies. Home-based carers look after about 18,000 children and have the oversight of a qualified teacher, but most have no early childhood qualifications themselves. Now the government has announced that carers must have at least a level four certificate in early education. The Education Minister Chris Hipkins speaks to education correspondent John Gerritsen.
