Fruit fly in Auckland: Otara grocers haven't heard from MPI

From Morning Report, 6:45 am on 20 February 2019

The discovery of a second type of fruit fly in Auckland has sparked a probe into how insects can enter the country on cruise ships and planes. The species, called the facialis, was found in a surveillance trap in Otara. A controlled area around where the insect was trapped has been set up. But when RNZ visited eight shops selling produce around Otara and Flatbush yesterday - none of them had been contacted yet about the discovery of a second species of fruit fly. Jessie Chiang filed this report.
