Sexual abuse survivor seeks audience with the Pope

From Morning Report, 8:50 am on 20 February 2019

A man sexually abused at a Catholic school is on his way to Rome with hopes of meeting the Pope. Darryl Smith was just six years old when he was abused by a St John of God brother in the 1970s at Marylands school for boys in Christchurch. His trip to visit the Vatican and advocate for change in the church is being personally funded by the Bishop of Dunedin. Mr Smith spoke to our reporter Tom Furley last night from Auckland Airport.
