National warns new rental standards will hurt tenants

National's housing spokesperson Judith Collins says new rules requiring landlords to insulate and heat rental homes will hurt tenants, not help them. Landlords have until July 2024 to install ceiling and under-floor installation that meets the current Building Code standard. They'll also have to supply heaters that can warm a living room to 18 degrees. But Ms Collins told our political Jo Moir the new rules, along with the possible introduction of a capital gains tax on investment properties, amount to an attack on property investors and tenants will end up paying for it
