Te Matatini organisers stoked with festival

Organisers of Te Matatini have thanked the Wellington region for taking the national kapa haka festival to new heights. The four day event ended on Sunday at Westpac Stadium, the festival's biggest venue yet. Auckland group Nga Tumanako won the competition, followed by first-time finalists Te Pikikotuku o Ngati Rongomai in second place. Te Matatini chairman Selwyn Parata told our reporter Te Aniwa Hurihanganui having the festival at a premier stadium added to the competition's grand scale.
