Long-time Labour MP Ruth Dyson quitting politics
The Labour MP Ruth Dyson is quitting politics at the next election, after spending her entire adult life involved in some way. She joined the Labour Party as a teenager, before holding a series of roles through the 70s and 80s including President of the party. Ms Dyson became a Labour MP in 1993, winning the seat of Lyttelton, before going on to represent Banks Peninsula and now Port Hills. She spoke to political reporter Gia Garrick about why she's decided to retire.
