'Year and a day' law scrapped in Crimes Amendment Bill

From Morning Report, 7:29 am on 6 March 2019

A law described as "archaic" and "unjust", which allowed people to escape the full consequences of their actions, has finally been repealed. The "year and a day law", meant that no one can be held criminally responsible for a death that occurs more than a year and a day after an act that contributed to the person dying. It was struck from the law books last night, as the government's Crimes Amendment Bill passed unanimously. Andrew Little is the Minister of Justice, he talks to Guyon Espiner.
