Imprisoned stateless man rejected by New Zealand

From Morning Report, 7:21 am on 7 March 2019

A stateless man who's been held in immigration detention in Australia for nine years has had his application to settle in New Zealand rejected. The man, known as M47 - a pseudonym given to him by a court - doesn't know his parents, his age or even where he was born. In an attempt to escape gang violence in Europe, he fled for New Zealand in 2010 using someone else's passport. He was stopped in Australia, where he's been locked up ever since. Matthew Theunissen reports.
